Masters of Science

Curriculum and Instruction (Mathematics Emphasis)

My name is Madeline Kuehn and I currently am a high school mathematics and computer science teacher at Columbia Heights High School in Columbia Heights, MN.

Within the portfolio, you will find a variety of artifacts that demonstrate my learnings throughout my time in the masters program at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Each of these courses helped me learn and enabled me to grow in my teaching.

Students often begin with a fixed mindset regarding their math abilities. They believe that they have poor math skills and are not able to be “math people”. However, I strive to help students develop a strong foundation of math skills and equip them to approach mathematics with confidence.

I believe that when students are active in their own learning, they thrive and grow. My goal is to build interest, convey concepts, and engage students, all while making them excited about mathematics. The skills that students develop can be used in not only my classroom, but throughout their lives.
